Sopron owns the title „Civitas Fidelissima”, meaning the most loyal city, as being a bordering town between Hungary and Austria on 14 December 1921 the citizens of Sopron declared on a referendum that they want to belong to Hungary. (Despite the fact that Sopron was under foreign supression in 1277 the city opened its gate for the king Ladislaus IV.) Sopron is a very colourful city: strolling along the city’s charming medieval streets we can discover masterpieces of architecture, can have a rest at the Main Square, or can taste one of the region’s red wines in the shade of the Tűztorony („Fire Tower”) which is the well-known symbol of the city.
